When the Rock Sound Riot Tour was confirmed in the UK, with a line-up consisting of Every Time I Die, Trash Talk, Spycatcher and Defeater, it was easily one of the most anticipated tour line-ups of the past few months. We lucky managed to get one of our photographer down to one of the shows to capture some of the carnage.
What a year 2011 has been for music for us here at DP! HQ. Acts have fallen, others have risen and some bands have overcame some of the most difficult obstacles of their career to produce what my be their best albums to date. Though it has been an awfully difficult challenge to pick our top 10 highlights from this year in terms of releases, we’ve managed to refine it down to these ones below. These 10 albums are the ones that have been rocking our socks off the most all year long, and if you haven’t done so yet we strongly urge you to get a copy of these RIGHT NOW!
Date: December 2nd, 2011
Venue: The Sugarmill, Stoke-on-Trent
Support: Trash Talk, Defeater, Spycatcher
The Rock Sound Riot Tour rolls into Stoke-On-Trent to grace the Sugarmill with what some may call the best line-up of the entire year. Boasting a roster of Spycatcher (who DP! unfortunately missed), Defeater, Trash Talk and the almighty Every Time I Die topping the bill, it’s bound to be an evening of utter chaos.
California hardcore band Trash Talk definitely win the award for one of the shortest five-track EPs in existence, weighing in at nine minutes in total. But don’t let the length deceive you, as ‘Awake’ is packed with about as much energy, angst, ability, aggression and pure raw noise as is humanly possible for one band to cram into such a short lived EP.
A bit of police action is going on in Trash Talk‘s new video for ‘Burn Alive’, so if you’re one who likes to rebel against authority this may burn that passion a little more:
We follow a crazy skateboarder who has one mental day out in Trash Talk‘s new music video for ‘Awake’. Check it out:

According to the official Trash Talk Facebook page, the band have had to cancel their forthcoming UK/European tour dates, including their appearance at Hevy this weekend:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances we need to cancel/postpone our return back to the UK/Europe this week. Sorry to anyone who was planning on coming out to see us on this trip over.”
You can find their official Facebook and the status post by clicking here.
Note: As only two members of the site were able to attend the festival weekend, we were sadly unable to cover every band performing throughout the day.
Following onto the second day of the 2011 Download Festival, the weather is looking better and brighter and the main stage attraction of the first ever UK performance from System Of A Down since their return from their hiatus draws in what could well be the biggest crowd of the whole weekend. With a selection of other great acts across all four stages, Saturday could definitely be the best day of the whole weekend:
