TRACK-BY-TRACK: Artificial Language – The Observer

California prog rockers Artificial Language have just released their ambitious debut record ‘The Observer’ that nods to peers such as Protest The Hero and Between The Buried And Me. Anthemic choruses and technical riffs make this one for the tech metal lovers but the concept story behind the record is enough to intrigue any music fans:

“The Observer is a narrator from the album that looks over various events. Throughout these events he peers into people’s lives through the first and third person. While observing the narrator becomes increasingly frustrated and confused by humanity and the emotions that drive their actions. As the album progresses he starts to understand humanity and understand the feelings and perspectives of the people he’s observing.”

Take a trip through the record with Artificial Language‘s track-by-track guide to their debut release.

As all good records should, it lays bare where our lives are at the moment – in an “all or nothing” stage- we’ll give everything for what we do, and hopefully this comes across in our music. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it and get out playing it around the UK in 2017″. We caught up with the band for a run through of ‘Tigers & Lambs’, to get a full understanding of how the record came together.

TRACK-BY-TRACK: Red Seas Fire – Resolution EP

When we last heard from the West Country based quartet, it was April 2014, and Red Seas Fire had just unleashed Confrontation, the follow up to 2013’s Exposition. Since then, the band continued pushing themselves ahead through self-imposed challenges to ensure that their last installment of their now three year spanning ‘Mise En Scène’ project was the most devastating work of all. Largely home-produced and recorded (with a little help from their friends), ‘Resolution’ truly finds Red Seas Fire as masters of their manifest destiny, each element of their richly textured sound dense with peaks, troughs and, well, riffs… Vocalist Robin Adams and guitarist Pete Graves guide us through the EP, track by track…
