ALBUM: The Mercy House – A Broken State Of Bliss

Old school hard rock and metal was left on the curb when Guns N’ Roses, Rage Against The Machine, Faith No More et al turned up and wanted to sound that little bit different from Metallica‘s doom barraging riffs (which had already softened on ‘The Black Album’) and Iron Maiden‘s flag-flying seven minute solos. Things became either grungy or “nu”, even a bit of both. Thankfully, ‘A Broken State Of Bliss’, the debut album from London 5-piece The Mercy House doesn’t dip its feet in the nu-metal waters but touches on a bit of everything else.
