Another autumn comes another visit to the UK from pop-punkers Bowling For Soup, who this time have brought along support from their friends The Dollyrots and Patent Pending. Never ones to miss out on the band’s comedy filled live shows, we headed down to the Manchester date of their October tour run and even got a few shots, as seen below:

With the cold and windy weather of October taking control, there seems to be a fresh wave of pessimism across the land. I wake up most mornings wishing to just stay in my nice warm bed and do nothing for the rest of the day. Alas though, I cannot and I have to trudge into university, all shivering and cold. The only thing that seems the put a smile on my face is the summer sounds of pop-punk so I, along with many others, am really looking forward to the optimistic vibes of tonight’s show.

I’m not quite sure how to go about reviewing this, so I’ll just dive right in. ‘One Big Happy!’ is a three-way split between up-and-coming pop-punk acts The Dollyrots and Patent Pending under the watchful eye of Bowling For Soup. Since this is being released on BFS‘s own record label, I can imagine them acting as mentors to these guys Also, both bands are going on tour with BFS, so I guess that this is album would be a cool little souvenir of the show too. ‘One Big Happy!’ has each band covers two of the others songs as well as releasing a brand new one of their own, which is a neat little way of getting to know each band.

Twelve long years The Dollyrots have been together now and boy have they been hard at work. With four full-length albums and many EPs and singles, they have quite a decent discography built up, not to mention all the relentless touring they do. They’ve never quite made it big but are forever on the cusp of doing so, and this makes me sad considering how bloody talented and devoted they are. These guys really deserve to be noticed and I really hope that their latest self-titled album will do just that.
