For the past year or so, Slaves have had their fair share of speed bumps. After playing what were initially intended to be their last shows ever in April of last year, the band retracted their dissolve pretty quickly, instead continuing on as a three-piece.

NEWS: Artery Recordings acquired by Warner Bros. Records!

Sacramento based label Artery Recordings, which was founded back in 2010 by Eric Rushing and helped to initially launch the likes of Chelsea Grin and Attila, has reportedly been bought and acquired by Warner Bros. Records for an undisclosed amount of money. Along with acquiring the label, it’s been reported that all of the staff, including president Shan Dan Horan, have been fired.

Having announced that he has suffered from some severe back pain for the past few weeks, Jonny Craig, frontman for California based post-hardcore outfit Slaves, has sadly been hospitalised and undergone treatment and three major surgery procedures in an effort to relieve the pain.

It would come as no surprise if the 2016 run of Download Festival would be known forever going forward as the year of Drownload. Easily the wettest Download Festival to have happened, with storms and torrential downpours happening throughout almost the whole weekend, it’d be impossible to be mud free, even if you were only catching one band. Thankfully, we had wellies and warm waterproof clothing well equipped. Download, let’s be ‘aving ya!

NEWS: Slaves deny break-up; explain future plans for line-up and sound!

Despite originally stating that the final show of their latest headline tour in Santa Cruz (April 9th 2016) would also be their final as a band, Californian outfit Slaves have confirmed that they haven’t broken up and that they “just needed a break”, with vocalist Jonny Craig and bassist Colin Viera remaining as the only members.

As such, the band will still be going ahead with their scheduled appearance at Download Festival in Donington and other UK dates next month.
