It would come as no surprise if the 2016 run of Download Festival would be known forever going forward as the year of Drownload. Easily the wettest Download Festival to have happened, with storms and torrential downpours happening throughout almost the whole weekend, it’d be impossible to be mud free, even if you were only catching one band. NEWS: Slaves deny break-up; explain future plans for line-up and sound!

Despite originally stating that the final show of their latest headline tour in Santa Cruz (April 9th 2016) would also be their final as a band, Californian outfit Slaves have confirmed that they haven’t broken up and that they “just needed a break”, with vocalist Jonny Craig and bassist Colin Viera remaining as the only members.

As such, the band will still be going ahead with their scheduled appearance at Download Festival in Donington and other UK dates next month.

NEWS: Jonny Craig posts open letter; confesses he’s “struggling”!

With the announcement of Sacramento’s Slaves deciding to part ways last week, frontman Jonny Craig confirmed an announcement of his own was to follow a few days after. Craig has now posted said announcement, which is an open letter regarding his ongoing struggles as an addict, that he’s “struggling”, and plans to get help following his confirmed solo tour in North America.

NEWS: Slaves decide to call it a day!

Following less than two weeks since guitarist Alex Lyman announced he was stepping down from the group, Sacramento’s Slaves have announced they will be hanging up the towel and calling it a day, making tonight’s show in Santa Cruz their final one together as a band.
