Genres are now so fragmented that sometimes it’s almost impossible to categorise certain bands. Sink The City are one of those bands that are hard to pigeon hole, whether its easy-core or we’re seeing a new nu-metal, who really knows? What is apparaent is that there’s now a new umbrella of metal that a lot, and I mean A LOT, of bands are sheltering under. I think we can pretty much blame Bring Me The Horizon for this genre of music, since they brought out ‘There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen it. There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret.’, hordes of bands have been aggressively expanding the production elements of their records. Obviously, BMTH do it a lot better than the majority of bands and it’s not with a grudge I point my finger at them, it’s just that because of them and that album we are left with EPs like ‘117’.
