It’s amazing what a change in line-up can do sometimes, isn’t it? Not long after a string of average and often laboured sounding releases, Silverstein have returned (with new guitarist Paul Marc Rosseau taking up the, now vacant, position, formerly held by longtime member, Neil Boshart) with ‘This Is How The Wind Shifts’, a wonderfully welcome return to long lost form for the post-hardcore veterans.

Silverstein are a hard-working, hard-touring band whose commercial success peaked a few albums ago and with 12 years practice and five full-length albums under their belts, Silverstein have decided to throw a curve ball into the mix and release a collection of 22 songs, all of which total at less than 20 minutes, aptly titled ‘Short Songs’.

Note: As only two members of the site were able to attend the festival weekend, we were sadly unable to cover every band performing throughout the day.
The final day of the Download Festival sadly brings along with it the storms and a downpour of rain that lasted pretty much the entire day. This however didnt stop the thousands of festival attendees making the most of the last day of the festival weekend, catching an array of great acts both big and small before having to return back to their every day lives once more the following day:

When you’ve been around for 11 years, it’s hard to keep the interest of the same fans you started out with. This is a problem that Silverstein have sadly encountered. Following the release of 2009′s ‘A Shipwreck In The Sand’ (and even to some extent their previous release ‘Arrivals And Departures’), it appeared that they’d abandoned their original sound. Whilst it’s true that the band have opted for a cleaner cut sound nowadays, there’s no real difference between old and new, and if anything, they’ve become better. So anyway, interested in the band has recently waned a little, but with the release of new album, ‘Rescue’, they hope to bring the interest back.
