While A Day To Remember are off having their nails done, the relentless The Story So Far and Every Time I Die cannot simply sit around doing nothing and, as such, are doing a handful of their own shows inbetween the ADTR support dates. With two high-octane bands on the bill, these shows are not to be missed for those desperate to see said support acts without paying the high price of an ADTR gig.

After hearing the first song on Scouts‘ new EP, ‘Why Do My Friends Have To Live Around Here?’, you’d be forgiven for thinking that they sound like a Northern English version of Hot Water Music, or any of those types of melodic slow punk rock bands that seem less like pastiche and as relevant as ever now. It’s hard to say if this band will go the distance and have a notable amount of longevity, because this EP doesn’t seem to be raucous or unique enough to keep you entertained or completely engrossed. So, this band may be just another outfit that seeps into the distant memory.

Effigies aside, there seems to be a trend within the UK ‘hardcore’ scene at the moment, involving the use of collective nouns as band names. Almost through ignorance and assumption, the listener believes he/she can guarantee the musical direction of the majority of these bands before even considering pressing play at the top of their iTunes window. Sadly for Scouts, they’ve joined the ranks of bands fitting the above description.
