Hemel Hempstead’s Scholars first full-length release, ‘Always Lead, Never Follow’, is an impressive, eclectic mix that will appeal and entice fans of genres ranging from indie to alternative. Immediately it’s incredibly hard to pigeon hole them (not that you should), musically they can range from funky guitar riffs that verge on Head Automatica to the occasional electronic, euphoria that wouldn’t look out of place in an Enter Shikari song. Vocally, they move between the rawness of Billy Talent to, at times, the almost operatic delivery of The Mars Volta and structurally, well, you get the picture.
