After putting his project Scar The Martyr to rest, which became his primary focus following his departure from Slipknot back in late 2013, prolific metal drummer and songwriter Joey Jordison has announced news today of his brand new project. Jordison‘s new band, VIMIC, was born from the blueprint of Scar The Martyr, and the band are currently readying their debut LP, ‘Open Your Omen’, which is set to drop later this year through Roadrunner Records.

Scar The Martyr, Joey Jordison’s post-Slipknot project, appear to have headed back to the studio. The band, which also includes in its ranks Jed Simon (ex-Strapping Young Lad) and Kris Norris (ex-Darkest Hour) are currently without a singer, with Henry Derek Bonner having left the band last year, and there is currently no news on a replacement:

It’s hard to go into this, the eponymous debut album from Joey Jordison‘s side-project, Scar The Martyr, without some preconceptions. Slipknot are a band that loom large in the hearts and minds of modern metal fans, so knowing that the jump-suited #1 from Iowa’s angriest sons sits upon the drum throne certainly does something to raise expectations, nevermind the considerable pedigree of the other members of the band (Nine Inch Nails, Darkest Hour, Strapping Young Lad). But, like the glam-punk curveball of previous side-show The Murderdolls, Scar The Martyr presents an unexpected if slightly less polarising side of the Slipknot sticksman that provides its own brand of metallic thrills.
