Growing and expanding to be able to now accomodate two dates in two separate cities, Hit The Deck Festival has certainley come a long ways since its humble beginnings a few short years back in 2011. Sheffield’s Rolo Tomassi have always been a band that isn’t easy to digest for everyone. Though their blending of sounds, styles and dramatic changes of such throughout their catalogue is certainley talented and hard to come by, it’s also perhaps too much too fast for some to handle. Now on their third studio full-length and their first via their own label, Destination Moon’, it seems ‘Astraea’ is a step in the right direction for a more pallatable balance.

It goes without saying that Rolo Tomassi are far from an easily accessible band. Their amalgamation of different sounds, genres, time signatures and general disfigurment of musical conventions really shouldn’t work together, yet somehow it really does. We’re now just over a week from the band’s third full-length ‘Astraea’ hits public ears, and it seems interest is far from lost at Manchester’s The Deaf Institute.

There’s not many festivals out there who are situated near the grounds of a wild animal park (or, simply a zoo), let alone also supply a full weekend worth of some of the most talented punk, rock and hardcore bands that are around today. With a small and intimate festival site to boot, Hevy is easily one of the best independent weekend music festivals the UK has to offer. We went along to catch all the bands, the animals and the partying they had to offer:
