Now on its thirteenth installment in the the whole Punk Goes… compilation series, the albums have become a regular occurrence in the scene. Though these cover albums are meant to be just good fun, showing a band’s adaptation of some popular work, they should always try and stay somewhat true to the original yet brand their own identity into the flesh.

The Punk Goes… series in its past few releases has received mixed reviews, people seem to either love or loathe the compilations, which as time has gone by have seemed to back away from featuring bands that would bands that would be considered ‘punk’. Now, with the series’ 12th installment, ‘Punk Goes Pop 4′, many of the artists featured could only loosely be considered punk, and sadly like the last few additions to the collection, the majority of this release is barely worth your time.

Year after year, the Punk Goes… series issues release after release, featuring a host of the label’s biggest and most popular artists at the time. Recently it’s been covering other artists’ work, such as the most recent ‘Punk Goes Classic Rock’, released earlier in the year. The third of the Punk Goes Pop series is the latest addition to the catalogue though, and like its two predecessors it’s mostly laughable.
