One of the UK’s biggest and most popular festival weekends, Reading/Leeds festival hosts hundreds of acts from pop to metal across an array of stages for three days. Combine mud, overly priced burgers and hot dogs with some amazing bands from across the world and you’ve got an awesome weekend ahead of you. We managed to review some of the bands at the festivals secondary site in Leeds, and here’s what we thought:

SPOTIFY: Reading/Leeds Festival 2010 playlist!

Did everyone who went to Reading and Leeds festival this year have a good time? We’re sure being back at home may be more comfy and warm but not as fun as your weekend just was, but it’s not all bad. We’ve made a playlist for all of you to relive your experience, shoving all the best artists into one chain of 37 tracks of bands and acts who played across the festival weekend. Of course not every single band that played over the weekend is on the playlist, that’d be silly and some of them were a bit rubbish. We just shoved on those that we cover on the site and think you’d appreciate the most.

If you’re a Spotify user check it out and let us know what you think of it:

Festival goers enjoy, and those who didn’t go just shove this on really loud and pretend you were there. Maybe bring some mud and grass in from outside, pitch a tent in your living room, wear some wellies and drink and dance lots!

SINGLE: Paramore – Careful

Release Date: July 12th, 2010
Label: Fueled By Ramen
Website: www.paramore.net
MySpace: www.myspace.com/paramore

Rating:

Things have been booming for Paramore since they dropped their third full-length ‘Brand New Eyes’. Tour after tour they’ve been keeping busy, and single after single they just keep getting more and more of the spotlight. Franklin’s pop-punk heroes new single ‘Careful’ is one of their strongest pieces to date, and is a great indication of how progression along the timeline has worked in their favour.

The album’s opener and fourth single lifted from it begins with a tumour like swell in volume before exploding into (what is within Paramore standards) a heavy frenzy of guitars before Hayley Williams‘ distinctive vocals come into play.

Third full-length album ‘Brand New Eyes’ has managed to sky-rocket Tennesse teen rockers Paramore into realms both the fans and bands alike never thought possible. With successful single followed by successful single, ‘The Only Exception’ has the potential to keep the winning formula going for Hayley Williams and the boys.

ALBUM: Paramore – Brand New Eyes

Release Date: September 21st, 2009
Label: Fueled By Ramen

Rating:

Pop-punkers Paramore have truly outdone themselves on album number three. The aptly titled ‘Brand New Eyes’ focuses on the band overcoming the struggles that caused them to cancel a European tour – broken down friendships and the inability to confront eachother appears to be the root of it all. The follow-up to 2007’s platinum album, ‘RIOT!’, is one of the most honest and heartfelt records I’ve heard in a while. Hayley Williams and co. have given an insight into what life was like for them.

With the success of second studio album ‘RIOT!’ and its lead single ‘Misery Business’, Paramore‘s international popularity has sky rocketed over the past six months or so. Now with third album single ‘CrushCrushCrush’ released, are they going to maintain this status, or are they just one of those bands that only ever have that one hit that gets them anywhere?

ALBUM: Paramore – Riot!

Rating:

Paramore have taken their old routine and formula, stuck it in a container, shaken it about a bit, and added a few more bits and pieces. When they spilled the contents back onto the table, they came out with second album ‘RIOT!’. They have again created a successful album, filled to the brim with cheery pop songs that make you want to jump off your sofa, grab a hairbrush, and sing along.

Rating:

With their band in termoil not too long ago, it seems strange that a young yet firmly established band like Paramore might not have even been existing today on their biggest tour across the UK to date. But with things in the past and a new successful album, it seems like nothing can possibly stop the Tennesse 5-piece from taking over. The MEN Arena is a good place to start.
