Returning for its second year running, our annual Reader Awards is your chance as the reader to cast yout votes and opinions and to let us all know exactly what has been so great for you in the world of music these past 12 months. It was also a chance for those of you in bands, labels and live music venues to get your fanbase to let us know just why we should all take notice of you.
We asked you what you feel have been the best releases, most noteworthy bands, notable record labels, the best venues the UK has to offer and even to help give us all a heads up into what are going to be some notable names throughout 2014,
Now, the results for this year have been compiled and are all listed with the top five results based on the amount of votes received below. Remember, if you’re not happy with the results, they are all down to what you readers have provided us. If you didn’t take part too, you have only yourself to blame. It goes withouthout saying that 2013 has been a fantastic year for music. These 12 months have brought us fantastic albums, coming from established bands, debuts from up-and-comers and also a few brilliant comeback records from our recently reunited favourites. Indeed, with so many great releases being fired out throughout the year, boiling this down to the 10 absolute best is nothing short of a challenge.
However, we put our thinking caps on, knuckled down, pulled all of our opinions together and managed to finalise what are our top 10 albums of 2013. Take a look below at what we thought has made 2013 such a fantastic year for music and undoubtedly has made it an arduous task for whatever 2014 has in store for us to even match up to, nevermind top:

Paramore took the world by storm when they released their critically acclaimed second album, ‘Riot!’. Suddenly, this small Tennessee band was on everyone’s lips and have been getting bigger and bigger ever since. Frontwoman Hayley Williams went from the girl next door to the girl on the cover of Kerrang! and many more music magazines alike. Now, they’re on sell-out arena tours and featuring in the charts on a regular basis, and it doesn’t look like their fame is going anywhere anytime soon.
Many thought that following the huge drama generated from the departure of the Farro brothers, undeniably the band’s biggest hiccup in their career to date, that pop-punk favourites Paramore held an uncertain future. Some even felt that this could well be the end of their lifespan as we know it. However, this year saw the release of their self-titled album, and now the trio are back at Dublin’s The O2.

After a turbulent period following the departure of co-founding brothers Josh and Zac Farro, knowing what to expect from a newly three piece Paramore was certainly speculative. Eschewing the threat of ever popular frontwoman Hayley Williams embarking on what would undoubtedly be a fruitful solo venture, the band have instead gone for broke with what is by far the Tennessee trio’s most audacious material yet, seeing ‘Paramore’ become a rather hit and miss affair.
