There’s not many festivals out there who are situated near the grounds of a wild animal park (or, simply a zoo), let alone also supply a full weekend worth of some of the most talented punk, rock and hardcore bands that are around today. With a small and intimate festival site to boot, Hevy is easily one of the best independent weekend music festivals the UK has to offer. We went along to catch all the bands, the animals and the partying they had to offer:

Date: February 28th, 2012
Venue: O2 ABC2, Glasgow
Support: Admirals Arms, Dead & Divine, The Chariot
Thirty minutes after doors, and ABC2 looks a very desolate place. It seems the intended audience for this gig may have indeed opted for Eyes Set To Kill and Shadows Chasing Ghosts, who are playing just a couple streets away. However, given this line-up, I don’t think that even Derren Brown could predict how this night will go.
Canadian outfit Dead & Divine are heading over to UK shores next month for two back-to-back tours, adding up to a total of 22 shows here in total. The band will start off on the Heart In Hand tour before joining the UK run of the Norma Jean/The Chariot European tour straight after. All dates of both tours can be seen below:

Before the release of third album ‘Hollow Crown’ back in the beginning of 2009, Brighton’s Architects were a very underground tech metal/metalcore band who’d tried and tried to get their name out there but to very little avail. Over a year later from the release of that record and the rowdy 5-piece are on an almost completely sold out UK headlining tour, all before the release of their follow-up record, ‘The Here And Now’. If that record increases their popularity just as much as the one preceeding it did then this could be their last few shows in such small venues.
This Thursday begins the Rock Sound sponsored Architects UK headline tour, with Norma Jean, Devil Sold His Soul and Lower Than Atlantis supporting on all 9 dates. Check out the tour poster below for all the dates/venues, you might be lucky enough to still get your hands on a ticket if you’re quick!
Brighton metalcore monster Architects have had a hell of a year, and to finish it all off the band want to go out with a bang. One of such things was just releasing a special edition of January’s ‘Hollow Crown’ album, which now comes with a full bonus DVD that includes a 24 minute documentary (filmed and edited by the band), ‘Early Grave’ and ‘Follow The Water’ music videos, the track ‘Hollow Crown’ remixed by the band and an animated photo gallery.
Along with this the band are soon to embark on a headlining tour across the UK, with Devil Sold His Soul, Norma Jean and Lower Than Atlantis as support. Then after this a tour across the US alongside Atreyu, blessthefall, Chiodos and Endless Hallway.
All tour dates for both tours are as follows:
As if a tour consisting of Devil Sold His Soul, Norma Jean and Architects was not enough to get anyone frothing at the mouth with anticipation, it has now been confirmed that Lower Than Atlantis have been added to the line-up.

SEPTEMBER 30 – LEEDS, The Cockpit
OCTOBER 01 – BIRMINGHAM, O2 Academy 2
OCTOBER 02 – MANCHESTER, Club Academy
OCTOBER 03 – GLASGOW, Garage

OCTOBER 06 – NOTTINGHAM, Rescue Rooms
