Welcome to part two in a series of features previewing this year’s Download Festival. Each week, we shall be looking at a particular genre or scene that will be represented at the festival. You may have heard some of the more established bands, but these previews may introduce you to similar bands that are in the same vain.

British metalcore giants Asking Alexandria with their monolithic breakdowns, punishing screaming, electronic injections and huge hooking choruses seem to have the youth of land under their spell. They embarked on their headline UK tour to provide their massive audience with the shows they’ve been waiting for. I went to see what all the fuss was about at a sold out show.

With Motionless In White‘s eagerly awaited sophomore, ‘Infamous’, it appears that the American metalcore outfit have regressed from the potential displayed on 2010′s debut, ‘Creatures’. A band once possessing a sound that could, with enough nurture and fine tuning, become something reinvugurating for the scene has instead been spliced into a frankenstein of MIW‘s former self and MIW trying a bit too hard to be just like their influences. As such, this monster is barely alive.
