Well, 2017 has been one hell of a year for Loathe. Just last year they signed with SharpTone Records, having only been a band for about a year at the time, and then this April dropped their debut album, ‘The Cold Sun’. With acclaim both inside and outside of the UK, they’ve been turning heads, and now, they’re beginning to portray their concepts and vision on their own tours, and tonight headlining Manchester for the second time.

Last year, enigmatic outfit Loathe were the first band to put out a release via the SharpTone Records imprint with the re-issue of their debut EP, ‘Prepare Consume Proceed’, which, over the coming months, managed to build an almost cult following for the band nice and early in their careers. Their blend of crushing metal verging at times into djent territory with the odd subtle sprinkling of electronics and some ambiguous dark concepts proved to be a winning formula.

It’s strange how enigmatic things can leave us so curious to scratch and claw away until we get the full picture. Skulking and creeping out of a pretty dark crevice with a sight of utter blight, Loathe‘s mystery is the name of their game, and this lack of identity or an embodiment to cling onto is one of the main points that allows the heavy hitting newcomers to reel subjects into their atramentous world.
