Lady Gaga, the infamous New Yorker, is now back with her third full-length studio album, ‘Artpop’. Rating:

It’s difficult to guess at what you’re going to get with a Lady Gaga album. You can count on there being a handful of sure-fire chart hits and more than a smattering of strangeness, but the question with her music is always whether Gaga has struck the right balance between pop genius or trashy nut case. Her debut, ‘The Fame’, brought Gaga‘s unique brand of dance/electronic/pop to the attention of the public, while the follow-up, ‘The Fame Monster’, continued to propel her in this trajectory, spewing out a number of commercially successful songs from it’s weird depths. She has been going practically non-stop since 2008, touring and writing this new album. Isn’t it about time she started to burn out?

ALBUM: Lady Gaga – The Remix

Release Date: May 10th, 2010
Label: Polydor
Website: www.ladygaga.com
MySpace: www.myspace.com/ladygaga

Rating:

Lady Gaga is a very clever woman, through releasing her new remix compilation album, originally titled ‘The Remix’, she’s technically managed to sell the same album three times in a very short space of time. Some versions of ‘The Fame Monster’ sold previous album ‘The Fame’ along with it, and now ‘The Remix’ is all those exact same songs mixed up a bit.

Remix albums are generally great flops, whether that’s down to poor remixes or each song not blending with the next consistently enough and making it sound all shoddy and jagged from start to finish. ‘The Remix’ is inflicted slightly with the former, but thankfully not with the latter, and manages to keep a clear and consistent run through.
