That’s right folks, it’s time again for the Defenders Of The Faith Tour to tear through the UK and leave a trail of destruction behind them. Having hosted some of the biggest names in today’s metal scene (like Machine Head and Lamb Of God), this year is no exception. With a decent variety of bands, there is something here to suit everyone, plus the Academy is one of those perfect sized venues. Big enough to create an amazing atmosphere, yet small enough to still create a kind of intimate feel.

Note: As only three members of the site were able to attend the festival weekend, we were sadly unable to cover every band performing throughout the day.
The third and final day of the Sonisphere weekend brings to the table another day filled with brilliant acts sprawling across a range of different genres. With what might be Slipknot‘s final UK performance together (at least with the current line-up), it’s an emotional and iconic day for all maggots in attendance.

From the pioneering melodic death metal of debut album ‘The Jester Race’, the In Flames sound has slowly but surely steered towards a more mainstream inclination, as each release began to incorporate such attributes as clean singing and electronic touches which lend to the songs a more accessible flavour. Now, with the loss of primary song writer Jesper Stromblad, we could be forgiven in thinking that the band’s progression could stall in the wake of losing such a creative influence, yet ‘Sounds Of A Playground Fading’ confirms that In Flames retain plenty of song writing scope in their ranks.
