England’s biggest metal festival, Bloodstock Open Air, is one that attracts all varieties of heavy loving fans thanks to its broad spread of bands across many metal genres. Boasting an average attendance of around 10,000 people it has the appeal of being big, but not too big. This year’s edition features something for older fans in King Diamond, something for younger fans in Lamb Of God, and something for flat out psychos in Slayer.

Melodic death metal vikings Amon Amarth have announced a UK tour this November with extreme metal legends Carcass, trad metallers Hell and exciting up and comers Bleed From Within. Check out the dates below.

Already packing a pretty hefty line-up for 2013 as it is, both ocult metal outfit Hell and Austrian death/black metallers Belphegor have become the latest additions to join this year’s Bloodstock Open Air festival bill.

Note: As only two members of the site were able to review the festival weekend, we were sadly unable to cover every band performing throughout the festival.
Reaching the 10th anniversary of this festival, it has come a long way from its humble beginnings at the Derby Assembly Rooms as a one day event. Being the only underground metal festival in England, it has earned an infamy on par with the metal bands it has playing. With the weekend coming to an end, well-respected rock act Motorhead are the ones who are set to finish 2011’s Bloodstock.

In the UK, Bloodstock Open Air Festival in Derby is the festival you have to go to if you want a weekend full of relentless heavy metal, and the 2011 line-up maintains the high quality that the festival has always been known to uphold. With the the final day of the festival now at hand, it’s up to hard rock legends Motorhead to close things up right, and we took and few photos in the lead up to and at their set.
Featuring: Hell, 1349, Evil Scarecrow, Napalm Death, HammerFall, Exodus, At The Gates, Morbid Angel and Motorhead.

Two more bands, Hell and Dripback, have just joined the line-up for this year’s Bloodstock Festival. On top of this, the annual metal festival have also revealed a fancy dress theme. The Friday date of the festival marks Vincent Price‘s 100th birthday, so the promoters are asking fans to come as their favourite morbid and horrible monsters. Whether it be Dracula, Frankenstein or even something more simple like the Mummy or Invisible man, there’s many possibilites.
