As I struggle across to my laptop to write this review, my hands are shaking. My muscles ache, I’m sitting in a pool of my own sweat and I have come to accept that I may well drop dead in the next few moments. For the past 45 minutes, I have been destroying my body via heavy lifting, pushing it to the limit in order to become stronger. Normally, with my usual soundtrack of Black Veil Brides and Justin Bieber, I would not be able to conjure up the motivation to put myself through this pain, but with the new Hatebreed album, ‘The Divinity Of Purpose’, blasting out of my speakers and Jamey Jasta screaming at me, I have been forced to squeeze every last ounce of energy out of my system.

Bloodstock doesn’t sound like the place where any normal person would like to spend their weekend, but for the more interesting souls, these four days form the basis of the premium heavy metal in the UK. If you like fully grown men bumming each other over and over in the middle of a field in full view of everybody, Bloodstock is the place for you. Several more acts have been confirmed to join the line-up of next year’s Bloodstock Open Air Festival. The newly announced acts are Dimmu Borgir, Hatebreed, Corrosion Of Conformity and Anaal Nathrakh.
The festival takes place at Catton Hall in Derby on August 9th – 12th. Four day camping tickets for next year’s event are available now at bloodstock.uk.com for just £90 (plus booking fee) until Christmas.
