It’s not a regular occurrence to attend a gig at an outdoor venue, at least not in the UK. Yet, following the tragic events that took place at the Manchester Arena in May, a number of shows scheduled to be hosted there had been moved, rescheduled, or cancelled for the coming months whilst repairs are carried out. Blink-182 went for the former option, instead occupying the amphitheatre makeshift venue that is the Castlefield Bowl for their first Manchester show in five years.

FEATURE: How bands and musicians reacted to the UK leaving the EU!

Yesterday (June 24th 2016), after hours and hours of voting across the country, and then those votes being counted up, the UK made the decision to leave the EU. For those who aren’t quite sure what that is, that’s the European Union – a selection of countries across Europe that work together in a huge number of ways, including economically, travel, and trade, if we’re going to be super brief about it.

The UK has been a part of the EU for over four decades, and following the poll results is the first country (or, set of countries as it includes England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland) to decide to leave the union after being a part of it. Of course, such a decision has split the opinions of many up and down the country, and as it affects the music industry, many musicians have also expressed their feelings on this historic decision.

NEWS: Frank Turner posts blog addressing the safety of women at gigs!

After wrapping up his headline set at the Electric in Brixton, South London on Friday (May 13th 2016), where he performed his 2011 studio album ‘England Keep My Bones’ in full, British singer/songwriter Frank Turner took to his site to write a blog post regarding the safety of women at gigs from sexual harassment. Turner states that after the show he received several emails from women in the crowd that night, who highlighted such experiences within the crowd.

INTERVIEW: Frank Turner (13/05/2016)

For the first time ever, folk-punk singer Frank Turner will perform ‘England Keep Your Bones’ in full at a special one-off show presented by White Rabbit at the Brixton Electric, on May 13th. Frank will top the bill for a night of bands, DJs, and a celebration of the work that the Music Venue Trust do to support the UK music scene and also raise money and awareness for charity CALM.

We caught up with Frank to talk about the importance of the show and how it will help some very important causes.
