Emarosa/Dance Gavin Dance vocalist and solo artist Jonny Craig is to enter into a North Hollywood detox facility to receive treatment for the drug addictions that have “plagued him for several years”. The label Rise Records and Artery Foundation Artist Management have taken financial responsibility for the recent Internet fraud claims that have become public in the past few weeks, where Jonny Craig had allegedly been failing to send people MacBooks after people had already paid for them.
Ex-Tides Of Man vocalist Tilian Pearson will assume vocal duties for Emarosa for the remainder of their current US tour. All Dance Gavin Dance shows are to go ahead as scheduled.

Vocalist Jonny Craig caused a bit of a stir with his Twitter account last night, posting several different tweets stating that he planned to quit music all together, and in doing so cancelling all his upcoming tours and album releases from both bands Dance Gavin Dance and Emarosa, and his solo project.
Though an official statement is still yet to be made and posted online, it appears he has decided to only put his solo record on hold. Follow his official Twitter account here to keep updated on the situation.

Glasgow six-piece Yashin had a pretty hectic year. The band finally released their debut full-length record ‘Put Your Hands Where I Can See Them’ which received great feedback from both fans and critics, played several support and headline tours, made an appearance at the Vans “Off The Wall” Music Night in Manchester, and finished it all off supporting Emarosa across the UK. The only non-Scottish member Harry Radford decided to share with us what he felt were the 10 best releases of the year which gave their band their first solid steps; 2010:

Photographer Marianne Harris shoots bands on an almost daily basis, whether that be for promo shoots or during some live shows. With this in mind she’s always open to new music as it comes, so we thought we’d find out what has been rocking her 2010, so here’s her list of her 15 favourite albums of the year. She couldn’t quite decide which one deserves which position though, so here they are in alphabetical order of the artist/band name instead:
Tags: A Day To Remember, Atlas&i, Attack! Attack! (UK), Bring Me The Horizon, Burn The Fleet, Bury Tomorrow, Deftones, Devil Sold His Soul, Emarosa, Lower Than Atlantis, Marianne Harris, Proceed, Shadows Chasing Ghosts, The Ghost Inside, Vanna, Yashin

2010 has brought us hundreds and hundreds of release; some amazing, and some terrible. It’s been hard, but we’ve managed to crack and narrow down what we feel have been the best 15 albums released over the past 12 months, from the big established acts to bands just getting their name out there. You may agree or disagree with some, and maybe even all of the albums and their positions on the chart, but everyone has their own opinion:

Moving from a more progressive and ambient style of their debut ‘Relativity’ to something much simpler and straight to the point with their eponymous album this year, Kentucky’s Emarosa are quickly growing to be one of the most respected and appreciated post-hardcore/alternative rock acts around today. With 2010 bringing the 6-piece such great attention and a mass increase in fans, DEAD PRESS! decided to catch up with the group and talked about their current December UK tour, updates on forthcoming b-sides and guest appearances, and whether or not they’re going to be releasing a music video in the near future…

Since their debut EP and a few line-up changes for the debut record, Emarosa have continued to change their style and sound to a much more refined, mature and melodic product. Where their debut ‘Relativity’ brought a more progressive sound, their eponymous full-length released earlier in the year cut off the meat and got rid of all the stringy and unnecessary bits. It’s worked well in their favour, and with closing their 2010 with one last stint across the UK, it’s been a more than great year for the Kentucky 6-piece.

Fastly becoming a big name on both US and UK shores, Emarosa and their self-titled record are only gonna speed this process up further, with its ten tracks of soft post-hardcore gold. From the sometimes over extended and stretched out offerings from debut full-length ‘Relativity’, this self-titled effort is much more refined with much of the fat cut from it.
‘A Toast To The Future Kids!’ is this album’s big opener, possessing a potential for a big hit live with a catchy punk vibe embedded within the pounding drums and gleefully invitiing guitar lines. As ever, vocalist Jonny Craig is the main focus on display throughout, hitting note for note perfectly and effortless top degree breath control at all times. ‘Live It. Love It. Lust It.’ and ‘Share The Sunshine Young Blood’ are the most convincing pieces of evidence for this, and show clearly how the band have progressed and improved since 2008′s ‘Relativity’.

Since the release of their debut full-length ‘Relativity’ and their first trip to the UK supporting You Me At Six in March 2009, Kentucky’s Emarosa popularity has become rapidly increasing. Their first headline tour across these isles with many sold out dates (Manchester being one of them) has proved to be just another piece of evidence to back-up this claim, and a reason to keep your eyes peeled for something big with their upcoming self-titled effort in a month’s time.
