LIVE: We Are The Ocean @ Academy 2, Manchester (28/04/2011)

Date: April 28th, 2011
Venue: Academy 2, Manchester
Support: Don Broco, Lower Than Atlantis, Veara

We Are The Ocean are, to many of today’s generation, one of England’s finest slightly new acts. Hailing from Essex, the quintet sounds a lot like Rise Against and Alexisonfire. Having just released their second full-length album, ‘Go Now And Live’, the aim of the tour is to promote the release. Not that much promotion is needed, for it’s already flying off the shelves. Having fine tuned their sound, this is a more mature WATO, but they still have one hell of a stage presence.

It’s not very often that a band can release their very first EP and then go on to a successful headline tour a few mere weeks upon its release. Bedford’s own Don Broco however are one of the few exceptions with the release of their ‘Big Fat Smile’ EP, so we decided to have a chat with them about the release, how the music video shoots were to promote the EP, and a small mention about vocalist Rob Damiani‘s recently revelead romance with Kelly Osbourne:

EP: Don Broco – Big Fat Smile

Release Date: February 14th, 2011
Label: Unsigned
Website: None available

The British pop-rock scene has been flooded to saturation point lately, with bands like You Me At Six, Kids In Glass Houses and Lostprophets all becoming household names. Don Broco aren’t content to stick to the three-chord, 4/4 time convention of their genre, throwing in the occasional odd time-signature and technical guitar riff, and throughout this EP you may often be surprised by the complex rhythms and beats this band create. This leads to an interesting but subtle compound of styles.
