Expanding up to 5 stages for its second year, Takedown Festival once again engulfs Southampton University Student Union with a who’s who of British alternative rock music, along with a few staple performers from overseas. Over 40 of the country’s best established and up-and-coming bands are looking to make it even bigger and better than last year, climaxing with The Blackout headlining the main stage this year.

There’s nothing like a good festival and, coming into its debut year, Liverpool’s Radstock sits right on Easter bank holiday weekend, making it pretty much the first festival of the year. With a line-up consisting of simply great British acts (bar one or two exceptions), when we were invited to go we just couldn’t refuse. Here’s some photos of a bunch of bands who played throughout the day, including The Blackout, Don Broco, Yashin, Bleed From Within and more:

With its debut year about to take play, Liverpool’s Radstock Festival is pretty much the first music festival of the year. What makes it a special one however is that almost every single band (with one or two exceptions) featured on the line-up is British, a rarity nowadays. Spread across three stages, we had to catch what could well be the beginning of a long lasting festival to come.

The heights that Bedford’s Don Broco have ascended to over the past 12 months is almost unbelievable. The last headline show the band played in Manchester was the small The Roadhouse to just a handful of people. Now, the band have completely sold out Academy 2, a room tenfold in size to their last show there. We caught up with drummer Matt Donnelly and guitarist Simon Delaney to talk about their rise, their debut album ‘Priorities’, their work out/fitness regime, wanking out giant sperm (yeah, seriously) and more.

By now, Don Broco should be a household name, like Pringles or Germany. With all of the airplay the band get on BBC Radio 1 and all of the relentless supporting and touring they’ve been doing over the last few years, there’s a bloody good chance you will have heard/seen them at one point, and quite right too. No one deserve success more than these lovely Bedford lads.
