There’s not many festivals out there who are situated near the grounds of a wild animal park (or, simply a zoo), let alone also supply a full weekend worth of some of the most talented punk, rock and hardcore bands that are around today. With a small and intimate festival site to boot, Hevy is easily one of the best independent weekend music festivals the UK has to offer. In an effort to persuade the owner of The Well venue in Leeds from turning the place into a restaurant, a Hell In The Well all-day benefit gig is being held there this Saturday (January 7th 2012) which features performances from Heights, Martyr Defiled, TRC and more. Desolated are a metal band hailing from Southampton, UK. The name of the band itself says it all about what you can expect from this 3-track EP. Detached, anger, isolated and sparse are four words that instantly sprung to my mind when thinking about their name, so I guessed that it was going to be a heavy, uncompromising listen… and I was correct.

Since starting 5 years ago, Ghostfest has sold out year after year due to its large fan following, great line-ups and clearly resulting in deserved success. Though this year didn’t sell out completely the festival has managed to move into it’s biggest venue, allowing for them to unleash their biggest year yet!
