It goes without saying that Download Festival is easily one of the pinnacle and most respectable festivals for rock, metal and alternative music in the UK. With years and years of success and acts gracing its grounds, such as AC/DC, Guns N Roses and Slipknot to name just a few of the more famous ones, 2011 is set to keep the festival’s sterling reputation strong and high. On its Friday bill of acts, there’s a range of names both old and new across its four stages, including a return from The Darkness after their indefinite hiatus:

The buzz around D.R.U.G.S. since their introduction into the scene has been massive, increasingly so as the release date of the debut self-titled album drew ever closer. Now with the album out for almost 2 whole weeks, their first ever visit to the UK and Manchester being their first show since its release, we caught up with guitarist/vocalist Nick Martin and drummer Aaron Stern to talk about the album, the meaning behind the band’s name, and how they feel about the great feedback from the record so far:

Rating:

With their date at The Roadhouse in Manchester, D.R.U.G.S. (or Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows) are faced with two pinnacle factors that should be making them a bit nervous about getting onstage. Firstly with it being their first ever live show in the UK, and secondly with it also being their first ever show since the release of their debut album almost 2 weeks beforehand. Still, the strong hype surrounding them should more than lift them up with confidence.
