Once a chapel hall until a few years ago, Manchester Albert Hall’s minor renovations into a live music venue a few years back was a great move, and finally brought to the city a grand venue for acts that a minimal yet grand. Side-project turned main venture City & Colour have come a long way from the days of 2005’s debut ‘Sometimes’, and Dallas Green alone gradually developed into a full band experience across releases, culminating in fifth full-length album, entitled ‘If I Should Go Before You’. This release manages to establish a long-sought middle ground between the stripped down earlier work that established this project and the new direction that the band took once it became Green‘s sole venture. Up until 2011, City & Colour was only the solo side-project of Alexisonfire guitarist and vocalist, Dallas Green, but since that band parted ways it has since become Green‘s sole focus. ‘The Hurry And The Harm’ is the first record to be released since Green‘s spotlight of attention changed subject, and whilst some progression from last album ‘Little Hell’ is apparent, there isn’t a terrific amount of difference from previous releases.
