If you were walking past The Fleece on Thursday night, you may have wondered if you were about to be robbed, for there was a sea of rowdy looking youths were gathered outside awaiting the appearance of US bad boys, Emmure. Flatpeaks were atop every head and if you didn’t have a facial piercing, then you looked out of place.

Splinter did it for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Professor Xavier did it for the X-Men and now Jason Richardson has done it with Chelsea Grin. The band were nothing before, but the ex-Born Of Osiris guitarist has somehow managed to turn Chelsea Grin from being pretty piss poor into a band that’s actually relevant in the deathcore scene. ‘Evolve’ may only be five tracks long, but those five tracks are some of the best you will hear this year.

With only two weeks into January, the Asking Alexandria tour easily stands as one of the most anticipated UK headline runs that 2012 will see. Ever since their first trek on these shores back in December 2010, their British fanbase has grown and strengthened, even further so following the release of sophomore record ‘Reckless & Relentless’ last April. Now, back again and with several dates sold out months in advance including tonight’s date in Manchester, does their live show justify the hype?

On their latest visit to the UK, Miss May I seem to be drawing in the crowds. Whilst Sound Control is quite a small sized venue, the amount of people queuing up outside is impressive, so much so that the roadies have to battle through the mass of eager fans to actually get back to the tour bus.
