With only two weeks into January, the Asking Alexandria tour easily stands as one of the most anticipated UK headline runs that 2012 will see. Ever since their first trek on these shores back in December 2010, their British fanbase has grown and strengthened, even further so following the release of sophomore record ‘Reckless & Relentless’ last April. Now, back again and with several dates sold out months in advance including tonight’s date in Manchester, does their live show justify the hype?

It’s a freezing cold Tuesday night and the rain is pouring down outside. There is a huge line outside the Manchester Students Union populated with dangerously underdressed teenage girls, all huddled together to shelter themselves from the cruel October wind. But none of them care about the impending frostbite, all they want is to secure a place at the front, so they can be as close as they can to their favourite band, blessthefall. Oh to be young again. I, on the other hand, was at the bar, with my feet up, Spongebob on the TV and a nice relaxing pint in my hand.

Not long releasing their third studio album ‘Awakening’, metalcore outfit blessthefall are back over in the UK on tour. Before the guys played their set to the Manchester crowd, we had a chat with drummer Matt Traynor and bassist/back-up vocalist Jared Warth about the new album, their thoughts on the newest cool genre dubstep and more.
With the recent release of their third full-length studio album, ‘Awakening’, blessthefall return to the UK with support from Pierce The Veil and Motionless In White, the latter of the two on their first ever visit to UK shores. The Garage was a big step up for a headline date for the band, having previously played venues as small as London’s Camden Underworld. Without a doubt, this tour is an important one for them.
blessthefall have come a long way since the release of their debut ‘His Last Walk’ all the way back in 2007. After establishing a firm fanbase with Craig Mabbitt, the band eventually moved on without him, replacing him with their current vocalist Beau Bokan. Whenever a vocalist leaves a band, there are always disputes and debates on which is the better vocalist, which is exactly what happened with their last record, ‘Witness’. However, third outing ‘Awakening’ really steps up to the plate and shows a lot of promise for the band.
Pierce The Veil have become the latest signing to Fearless Records. The band will be heading over to the UK in October supporting blessthefall along with Motionless In White, with the dates listed below, before heading back into the studio for album number three, set for an early 2012 release.
