alesana2015

The books narrative will revolve around the band’s three concept records; ‘The Emptiness’ from 2010, ‘A Place Where The Sun Is Silent’ from 2011, and last year’s ‘Confessions’.

Alesana‘s long awaited final instalment of their Annabelle triology is a frustratingly dissapointing one that is, for the majority of its extensive duration, overdrawn and stylistically confused. On paper, ‘Confessions’ seems promising, boasting an intriguing concept, centered on the critically acclaimed ‘The Time Quintet’ series and including a total of four years preparation. All high hopes, however, are smudged by what is conveyed as a lackadaisical approach to writing and arranging the breadth of ‘Confessions’.

Rating:

Alesana have always been one of those love or hate bands. With varied criticism from one release to another, it’s about time the band produced a record that most critics can look at it for its good points instead of the bad. This record should hopefully do exactly that. The new album is divided into two acts; ‘Act One: The Gate’ and ‘Act Two: The Immortal Still’. With a fresh concept focused around The Inferno by Danta Alighieri, it’s time to see what Alesana can provide on their fourth full-length outting.
