There’s not many festivals out there who are situated near the grounds of a wild animal park (or, simply a zoo), let alone also supply a full weekend worth of some of the most talented punk, rock and hardcore bands that are around today. With a small and intimate festival site to boot, Hevy is easily one of the best independent weekend music festivals the UK has to offer. We went along to catch all the bands, the animals and the partying they had to offer:

Note: As only a few members of the site were able to review the festival weekend, we were sadly unable to cover every band performing throughout the day.
Extended to a full three-day weekend and being one of the only festivals to be hosted at a wild animal park, Hevy is most definitely a unique beast that’s growing from strength-to-strength year after year since its creation. Now onto the second day of the weekend, all four stages of the festival were open for business, and our ears were open to the huge array of bands.

After performing at several of the UK’s biggest music festivals, including Download and T In The Park, the eight finalists of this year’s Red Bull Bedroom Jam competition have been reduced down to a final three for the closing part of the competition.
ACODA, Page 44 and Hill Valley High will be heading to Red Bull Studios in London to battle it out in the live online final, streamed at www.redbullbedroomjam.com. Joined by The Blackout who will be headlining the show, each band will take it in turn to play their choice track to try to impress the public and gain their vote.
Head to www.redbullbedroomjam.com on Monday 26th August to see the bands play live head-to-head, and make your choice on who should be crowned the champion of Red Bull Bedroom Jam 2011 and walk away with a two week recording session in the Red Bull Studios London and a supporting slot on The Blackout‘s upcoming UK tour.

Hosted at the grounds of Knebworth, we got involved with the Sonisphere festivities now that the event has been extended to a three-day weekend with all of its stages. The first night of bands treated us witht the first ever UK appearance of The Big 4, along with a host of many other brilliant acts. Though we weren’t allowed photo access to the Apollo and Saturn stages to take shots of the big guns, our snappy photographer did manage to catch all the other great action across the arena.
Featuring: ACODA, Rolo Tomassi, The Defiled, Protest The Hero, Young Legionnaire, Killing Joke, Decade, Black Breath, The Black Dahlia Murder, Hounds, MakethisRelate, Flats, Witchsorrow,

Coming out as one of the first announced winners of the 2011 Red Bull Bedroom Jam competition, Corby’s ACODA have garnered more than enough experience and attention with their brand of metal. Despite not having a full-length album out just yet, the four-piece have still managed to play shows outside of the UK. We caught up with them shortly after their Download Festival weekend to see how it feels to be a winner:
