SLAM DUNK 2011 PREVIEW: Sam Little

Returning to Slam Dunk Festival for the second year running onto the Punktastic Acoustic stage, solo artist Sam Little may not be the biggest name out there, but he’s certainley one of the more talented ones to grace the stage. What sets him above is the great sharp hooks and harmonies to get you singing to songs you may not even be familiar with, and with the thought of him almost stopping it completely a few months that would’ve been silly. We caught up with Sam to talk about how excited he is for his upcoming sets for this year’s festival and news on his old band reforming for a new album very soon:

Zach: How does it feel to be playing Slam Dunk again this year?
Sam: Words cannot describe how excited I am. Last year, it was one of the best weekends of bands and good times, and I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be the same again this year.

Zach: You’re performing on the acoustic stage sponsored by Punktastic.com, how does it feel to share the stage alongside the likes of Lost On Campus?
Sam: Lost on Who? Oh yeah, the German rapper turned soul singer. I’m looking forward to seeing him, I’ve heard he’s pretty good. There’s some amazing acts on the Punktastic stage though, they’ve done an incredible job.

Zach: As a solo artist, do you ever get a little nervous when you take the stage, especially at high profile events such as Slam Dunk?
Sam: It’s strange actually, I get nervous at the small gigs but not the big ones. I think it’s because it’s more personal and there’s more to judge on. It’s all a laugh though, I don’t do it to be serious.

Zach: Are there any bands you plan on catching whilst you’re there?
Sam: All of them really, I’m gonna do a lot of running, haha. I can’t wait to see Reel Big Fish, they’re a massive guilty pleasure, and then I’m gonna try and support every UK band I can. REP. RE. SENT.

Zach: Why should people at Slam Dunk this year come and check out your set?
Sam: Because I have a legion of zombie midgets waiting at their houses, ready for if they don’t.

Zach: Will you be staying around for the aftershow party once all the acts have finished up?
Sam: I’m most definitely hitting the aftershow party.

Zach: What have you got planned for yourself once Slam Dunk is over?
Sam: My old band Fleeing From Finales are reforming, so I’m gonna be writing an album with them, going on tour hopefully and then I’m buying a house next to Jon Bon Jovi.

Zach: Is there anything else that you’d like to add or share with our readers?
Sam: The Chinese word for Panda is “Xiongmao” or Giant Cat Bear.
