Simple Creatures, the new side-project from Mark Hoppus (Blink-182) and Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low), only released their debut EP ‘Strange Love’ last week, but they have plenty more to come soon.
The pop-rock duo have confirmed in a recent interview with Rock Sound that a second EP, called ‘Everything Opposite’, will be coming this summer, and that they also have a debut full-length album ready to drop not long after.
Hoppus had this to say about the amount of material generated for the project, and how they set to release it.
“When we first set out, we had enough music to put out a record but I don’t think we wanted to inundate people with that much music right off the bat. We wanted to put out some music (then) put out some more music later. Especially the way that modern music is consumed and released… that’s something that’s really exciting for me as a musician, is to have that agility to put out whatever you want.”
Gaskarth also added the following regarding wanting to make sure that Simple Creatures is considered more than a short-lived side-project.
“When we talked about doing this, one of the main things we discussed was we don’t just want this to be a passion project that we fire up for a week and then it’s done. We said if this is gonna be worthwhile and we’re gonna do this then this should be our creative outlet going forward for things that are different and things we can do outside of our existing projects. I think, yeah, down the line it’s gonna be a really nice thing to have to just do things a different way.”
