It has been confirmed that Oli Herbert, the guitarist and one of the founding members of Massachusetts metalcore outfit All That Remains, has tragically passed away at the age of 44.
The news of Herbert‘s passing was first confirmed by his fellow bandmates, who issued a statement through their official Facebook page.
“We were devastated to learn that Oli Herbert, our friend, guitar player, and founding member of All That Remains, has passed away.
Oli was an incredibly talented guitarist and song writer who defined Rock and Metal from the Northeast. His impact on the genres and our lives will continue indefinitely.
No further details are available at this time. The band and family request that you please respect their privacy and remember Oli by celebrating the great music he made.”
Shortly after the band’s statement was released, Herbert‘s widow, Beth, also released a short statement, in which she thanked all of the fans for their condolences and kind words during this difficult time.
“Hello everyone this is Beth, Oli’s widow. Thank you all for the kind thoughts and words. I don’t want to go into what happened until we have a complete picture, but as soon as we do there will be a statement from the family on this page. In the meantime, please respect our privacy as there are still relatives being informed of Oli’s passing. Thank you.”
Upon the initial news of Herbert‘s untimely death, there was speculation regarding the cause and circumstances that surrounded it.
In a statement that was provided to MetalSucks (here) via Herbert‘s personal publicist Suzanne Penley, she explains that this was due to “accident which occurred on the property of his home” in Connecticut.
“On behalf of Oli’s wife and family I can confirm that Oli Herbert passed away yesterday unexpectedly as a result of an accident which occurred on the property of his home. He was 44 years old. No further details are being released at this time. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced once that information is available. The family requests for privacy during this time but does wish to express their appreciation to fans worldwide for the outpouring of condolences.”
According to reports on the matter from entertainment news website TMZ (the full article can be read here), they state that the police investigating the property found Herbert “in a nearby pond” and that though there’s no suspicious circumstances suspected, “an autopsy needs to be performed to confirm the cause and manner of death.”
We here at DEAD PRESS! offer our deepest condolences and sympathies to Oli Herbert‘s family, friends, bandmates, and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
