NEWS: Cameron Boucher (Sorority Noise) accused of alleged rape!

Connecticut emo rockers Sorority Noise have announced they’ve cancelled their remaining dates of their tour this Spring, originally intended to be their last run before going onto an indefinite hiatus, following allegations of rape made against frontman, Cameron Boucher.

The allegations originally surfaced online earlier this week (April 9th 2018), and were made by Nicole Schoenholz in a brief and now deleted Facebook post which read “Goodnight rapist screamo band.”

A comment was left on the same Facebook post from Schoenholz, explaining she was about to delete the post, and was closed off with the sentence, “fuck SN and OG because CB is a fucking scumbag who raped a friend of mine.” The acronyms were suspected by fans and have since confirmed to be referring to Sorority Noise, Old Gray, and Cameron Boucher respectively.

Before its deletion, the Facebook post was screenshot and shared via Reddit (read here).

Schoenholz is a former member of the band The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, who parted ways from the group in 2016 and has since performed under the name One Hundred Year Ocean.

On April 10th 2018, the day after the accusations first surfaced online, Boucher issued a statement in response to the allegations via Twitter, which you can read below.

“I am aware of the Facebook post that Nicole Schoenholz made late last night that has made its way to Reddit and other social media.

I would like to firmly state that her accusations are false.

I take accusations of sexual violence and nonconsent very seriously. Since last night, I have taken the time to have honest conversations with previous intimate partners and given them the room to share if they had any experiences with me that were nonconsensual or disrespectful in any way.

Following these dialogues, I can confirm that the accusations against me are baseless.

Please know I have handled with as much care and respect as possible. Thank you for reading this.”

The following day (April 11th 2018) after Boucher‘s statement, the remaining members of the band collectively issued a statement of their own, in which they also confirmed that they would be removing themselves from the remainder of the UK tour they were on with The Wonder Years.

“We are aware of the allegation against Cam that was posted on Reddit earlier today. Our team is doing its due diligence and looking into the matter as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, we are no longer playing tonight’s show in London with the Wonder Years and will be removing ourselves from the rest of the tour.

We are looking after Cam and taking him to receive treatment to ensure his health at this time.

It is difficult for us to say more at this moment as the rest of us are doing our best to handle the situation immediately in front of us. We will make an update as soon as we have any more information and clarity to offer.

We are sorry to let any of you down and extend our deepest regrets to those affected. Thank you.”

According to a report made by SPIN, the band have also been dropped by both their management and their PR (read here).

More details surrounding these events will be confirmed as they develop.
