Brighton progressive rockers Black Peaks have regrettably been forced to pull out of their UK slots supporting metal giants Gojira in June/July 2019.

The band announced the news via a statement, explaining that vocalist Will Gardner‘s health had deteriorated to a point where they would not be able to perform.

You can read their full statement below.

“Yesterday right before our show at Full Force Festival, Germany, our singer Will’s health deteriorated and we had to cancel our performance. It has been an ongoing problem that unfortunately was out of our control. Obviously the health of the four of us and anyone from our team is most important.

This does mean we have to cancel our three shows with Gojira, which we are absolutely devastated about as they are one of our favourite bands in the world.

We sincerely apologise to everyone who travelled to see us yesterday and who was planning to see us this weekend. These shows meant everything to us so it is heartbreaking to have to do this but we hope you all understand why.

Currently there is not a lot more we can offer you in the way of information but please know we are so very sorry from the bottom of our hearts.

Gardner has taken to Twitter himself to offer a personal apology, and in doing so also explained that he is currently recovering from a recent bout of Sepsis, a potentially life-threatening condition that arises when the body’s response to infection causes injury to its own tissues and organs.

You can read all of his tweets below.

“Thank you for the kind messages. I’m genuinely gutted not to be playing with literally my favourite band in the world Gojira over the next few days.

A few weeks ago I had Sepsis and the recovery period is both brutal and long. I have been doing my best to pull through these shows but the fact is that my body is still deeply unwell and very much needs time to recover. I’m very lucky to be surrounded by both amazing friends and the incredible medical professionals in both the UK and Germany. I will be back on my feet as soon as I can but for now I need deep rest and healing time.

Thank you all for your patience, kindness and understanding during this frustrating and difficult time. Lots of love and peace to you all.

We here at DEAD PRESS! wish for a swift and full recovery for Will Gardner, who we hope will return to full health very soon.
