We’re putting the spotlight on the hottest and most exciting new bands around with our Introducing feature, ready to highlight the artists with the biggest potential to make an impact on their scene.

Sheffield newcomers Steal The City may only just be starting out but two singles in they’re already fine tuning their guitar driven power rock sound. Their new track ‘Manufactured’ is fast, passionate and exciting and band describe the track as a “fuck you song to the people who try and manipulate or convince you to do what everyone else is doing. Its about saying no to following a basic path or being ‘Manufactured’ into something you don’t want to be. Every so often we come across someone who tells us we can’t do something because it won’t pay very well or you should just settle down, go to college, get a degree and work yourself through life.” Get to know Steal The City with our handy introducing guide.

Silverstein / Rise Against / Strike Anywhere

FEBRUARY 15 – SHEFFIELD, Record Junkee

DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard Steal The City before?
Steal The City: Steal The City is a hard-working 4-piece rock band from Sheffield. We give 100% at every live show and make sure even those who aren’t into our genre are impressed by the show we put on. The band is all about playing live and putting on a show so people get their money’s worth!

DP!: How did the band form?
Steal The City: The band formed when childhood friends Sam and Smit wanted to combine efforts into a new project (as Smit was in a number of projects prior to this) then, through chance they met Joe and shortly after Ellis (those 2 being childhood friends too) and thus the 2 bromances became Steal The City.

DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
Steal The City: Our plan is to be able to do what we’re doing for as long as possible. We want to tour the country, Europe, and hopefully the world playing the music we wrote to as many people as we can. We want to play large Summer festivals, sleep in a van in a carpark in the middle of Winter, you name it.

DP!: Which new bands are you listening to right now?
Steal The City: We are enjoying a couple at the moment, Casey having just released the first single from their new album are sounding great and Trivium’s new album is sounding mega too. Also, Novelists, Wage War, and The Unguided are sounding pretty damn good too. It’s hard to list loads at this time of year as in the back of your mind is Mariah Carey wailing away!

DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
Steal The City: We take a lot of influence from bands such as Motorhead, Bring Me The Horizon, While She Sleeps, etc. as they’ve managed to transcend era’s / trends and continue to grow in popularity. We aim to work as hard as possible to ensure we remain relevant in the industry. As well as this, we see bands like Metallica doing meet and greets at every show which is something really positive. We’d like to give back to the next generation if we had the chance too.

DP!: What’s the stand out moment in your career so far?
Steal The City: At present, attaining a substantial amount of attention on Spotify has been amazing, we never expected to get as much streaming as we have from having only our first 2 singles out. Aside from that, we supported Skindred for a Halloween gig and played to a crammed venue in Chesterfield dressed as the village people, so that was pretty awesome!
