WHAT THE BAND SAY:
DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard Loose Tooth before?
Loose Tooth: The Smiths for people who dislike self-importance, nah just messing. Pretty much just a heavy Brit-Rock band for fans of Reuben, Black Peaks and Arcane Roots. Also Kate Bush, one unifying quality in all the people who dig us is an unyielding appreciation for her.
DP!: How did the band form?
Loose Tooth: Just out of a mutual knowledge of one another, we were in separate bands that broke up around the same time and even though we thought maybe we’d had enough of doing this whole band lark I think we each had about about a week of thinking like that before it was time to dive right back in.
DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
Loose Tooth: We’re getting to the end of this year’s releases now and we’re looking forward to our next one. All we’re saying for now is we’ve written an EP we’re super happy with and we cannot wait to get it out to people next year, it’s definitely our most cohesive set of songs yet and we think if people have liked our stuff thus far they’ll really dig what we’ve got in the pipeline.
DP!: Which new bands are you listening to right now?
Loose Tooth: At the minute we’re all still absolutely in love with the most recent Palm Reader record ‘Braille’. That and the majority of the output from Big Scary Monsters, that label is just snapping up all the most exciting artists in the UK right now. Our label mates Seasonal dropped an EP called ‘Weathered’ recently that’s a total belter as well so that’s definitely a frequent listen.
DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
Loose Tooth: Mainly bands that never compromise their ideals and vision, the likes of Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die and Million Dead are in there. I think bands that have grafted hard are a massive inspiration, Employed to Serve and Press To MECO are two bands in the UK right now who are getting their due a little bit and it’s because they’ve just worked and put every last penny they could into being an awesome band. Also, our mates Sharkteeth Grinder who gig harder than any band we know right now! Anyone who goes on tour and gets up the day after to endure their day job is an inspiration whether we know them yet or not.
DP!: What’s the stand out moment in your career so far?
Loose Tooth: Definitely the day we signed our record contract with Undead Collective, one of us has a cheesy photo of Oli grinning as he signs it somewhere. Since that day the advice, contacts and support we’ve been given has been amazing, even if this band comes to nothing that achievement alone will be a huge one for all three of us.
