We’re putting the spotlight on the hottest and most exciting new bands around with our Introducing feature, ready to highlight the artists with the biggest potential to make an impact on their scene.
British alternative rockers Blank Atlas released their debut EP ‘Solitude’ back in 2016, which took them round the country with the likes of Dream State, Allusondrugs, and Fatherson.
Fast-forward to present day and Blank Atlas have taken a heavier musical direction using their big choruses and melodic harmonies to great effect with chuggy and clever riffs. ‘Canvas’ is the result and is available right now. We grabbed singer/vocalist Dan Thould to talk us through the band and what’s happening in the future.

WHAT THE BAND SAY:
DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard Blank Atlas before?
Dan Thould: I would say we are mainly alt rock but with math rock parts. If you like big choruses and weird riffs there’s a good chance you might like us!
DP!: How did the band form?
Dan: Well, me and Tom our drummer are twins, so we have always played together. But we met Chris in school and have been playing together ever since. The band as we know it now started in 2016.
DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
Dan: As we have just released our new EP, we are going to tour as much as we can! BUT, we might have been writing, so you may have new music sooner than you think.
DP!: Which new bands are you listening to right now?
Dan: We have so much love to give to our band mates…. there are so many but a few of them are. Hypophora, Nova Hands, Tirade, Kovax, Last Hyena, Trigger Thumb, Veridian… we could go on. CHECK ALL OF THEM OUT! They are better than us.
DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
Dan: This is a long list as well… Biffy Clyro, Arcane Roots, Black Peaks, Press to MECO. They are just too good, being that good ain’t healthy. Riffs.
DP!: What’s the stand out moment in your career so far?
Dan: There are so many! Being able to gig with so many sick bands is amazing. Also, we are always amazed when people come to our gigs and they actually know the words to our songs… it’s pretty crazy. The EP launches we did for ‘Canvas’ were so good! We can’t believe that we actually have people who will travel and give their hard earned money to see us play.
Blank Atlas‘ new EP ‘Canvas’ is out now and you can download it from iTunes (here}.
