Rating:

The world we live in is a dark and scary place, and Chelsea Wolfe has no plans of making it seem any less so. In fact, she wants to do quite the opposite. Wolfe‘s fifth studio album, ‘Hiss Spin’, sees her take on her heaviest, most aggressive album to date.

Rating:

What a hell of a couple of years it has been. It’s indisputable that politically and socially, there’s been an ever-increasing division and segregation, including the lead up and indeed the fall out of both the Brexit and US election results; the issues at the forefront worldwide are too many in number to list off in this review. But, as with any aftermath from dismay and times of darkness, it’s important to remember that there’s always something to salvage.

Release Date: September 16th 2017
Label: Unsigned
Website: None available
Facebook: www.facebook.com/prettylittleenemyuk
Twitter: www.twitter.com/prttylttlenemy

Rating:

Pretty Little Enemy, the Somerset based self-proclaimed “metal ABBA”, are a rarity in today’s music climate, where it’s surprisingly rare to find a sound that is completely refreshing. Their aptly and somewhat crudely titled sophomore EP ‘Second Load’ is stamped with their riff-filled brand of heavy pop music, and another positive step towards standing beside their established peers.

Release Date: September 15th 2017
Label: Hopeless Records
Website: www.emarosa.us
Facebook: www.facebook.com/emarosa
Twitter: www.twitter.com/emarosa

Rating:

It took quite some time for everything to settle down, but it’s safe to say that after the departure of Jonny Craig and the arrival of Bradley Walden, Emarosa are now in a stable situation, through which they’ve rebuilt and started to regain momentum. Last year’s ‘131’, the band’s fourth full-length, was a very well received sophomore offering for Walden, and, as he and the band did with their last record ‘Versus’, they’ve a reworked a handful of its cuts to deliver a short EP, ‘131 – Reimagined’.

Rating:

About a decade ago, the British alternative scene was full of young and exciting up-and-coming pop/emo-rock bands that were ready to take the world by storm. Around 2012, a select few that donned leather jackets went on to be a huge success in the mainstream media, but the rest faded away one by one until the likes of Kids In Glass Houses, Blitz Kids, and Futures were no more.

London rock trio Arcane Roots have released their second full-length album, ‘Melancholia Hymns’. Though slow to start, the album quickly begins to impress. Tremendous rhythm, combined with a breadth and depth of songwriting, take the band soaring to new musical and emotional heights, allowing them to create a quite unique blend of serviceable and very listenable prog pop.

Rating:

It’s been just over two years since Being As An Ocean dropped their self-titled record, making our wait from then until the release of ‘Waiting For Morning To Come’ our longest so far for new music from the Californian collective, and that period was a turbulent one for the quartet.
