As headliners Brand New played in Saosin‘s slot, due to Saosin‘s lead singer being sent ill to hospital the previous day, The All-American Rejects have become tonight’s headlining act – an opportunity not to be squandered at any cost.

Brand New are on a tad earlier tonight than originally scheduled, and much of the Birmingham audience seems rather confused with this change, but they arrive to the stage early for a good reason. Unfortunately the lead singer of the band Saosin had been sent to the hospital due to an illness. However, Brand New have stepped in till fill their slot, and are in a way the heroes of Give It A Name in Birmingham this year.

A pretty small stage, but with this crowd a fairly big band. Cute Is What We Aim For have fast become one of the most popular bands on this particular music scene right now, and with Give It A Name probably being their biggest crowd to date they’re here to show Birmingham what they’ve got.

After a few months of no touring whatsoever, The Blackout are back out on the road again to do the thing they enjoy most – playing live! People are outside queuing a good two hours before the doors are due to open, not too bad at all. Upon arriving inside the venue everyone scatters across the floor, ready for what the bands on tonight’s bill are to throw at them.

Rating:

Not too long back from their first Europeon tour, supporting metalcore act Killswitch Engage along with The Haunted, Bring Me The Horizon are on their second UK headlining tour to promote their debut full-length album ‘Count Your Blessings’.

The kids have been queuing outside the venue a good hour and a half before doors, none looking that different from the rest; dark hair with a swept over fringe, perhaps a block of blonde dyed in, hoodies, drop dead t-shirts and black jeans are plentiful. Upon entering the venue, they rush towards the stage like maggots feasting on rotten flesh, with some of the fans however choosing to hover nearer to the bar instead, or to grab a seat at a table near the rear of the venue.

Venue: Jilly’s Music Box, Manchester

Rating:

It’s Bonfire Night, and on this special night Jilly’s Music Box is packed to the brim with scene/emo kids gearing up to see metalcore 5-piece Bring Me The Horizon.

The first support band, The Mourning Will Follow (***), kick things off. The crowd aren’t reacting too much, but you can tell that they’re into what the band are playing. They’ve got the same formula down that most bands in their genre can generate, so though they’re unoriginal they aren’t poor onstage. Second support Clone The Fragile (***) from Leeds have a few new songs on the table, and bring the crowd throwing in the first few moshpits of the night; from a distance all that can be seen are flying arms from the small pit up front.
