Date: November 16th, 2008
Venue: Apollo, Manchester
Support: Bleeding Through, Lacuna Coil

Rating:

‘Scream Aim Fire’ bolted up Bullet For My Valentine‘s popularity more than most ever though would happen, especially from the huge amount of exposure and success that they acquired from their debut album ‘The Poison’ that would’ve been difficult to top off. But surely enough it was succeeded, so a tour across several countries at the end of the year is a perfect way to celebrate such an achievement.

LIVE: Fall Out Boy @ NEC Arena, Birmingham (19/10/2008)

Date: October 19th, 2008
Venue: NEC Arena, Birmingham
Support: You Me At Six, Boys Like Girls
Website: www.falloutboyrock.com
MySpace: www.myspace.com/falloutboy

Rating:

It’s annoying when one of your favourite bands rarely ever play shows in your own country, and therefore have to wait ages until you can see them. Fall Out Boy tends to be one of such bands lately, but for only three dates during October 2008, they’re rewarding us for our patience. Now big enough to play reasonably large sized arenas, the band play the Birmingham NEC Arena tonight, with a new album on the way soon enough too.

LIVE: Taste Of Chaos @ Academy 2, Manchester (30/10/2008)

Venue: Academy 2, Manchester
Headliner: Atreyu
Support: Smudge, HORSE The Band, MUCC, As I Lay Dying, Story Of The Year
Website: www.rockstartasteofchaos.com
MySpace: www.myspace.com/tasteofchaos

Rating:

Hosting mainly hardcore, metal, and alternative bands, annual worldwide music rock tour Taste Of Chaos exhibits a selection of bands that aren’t really all that huge, but people within that market of music would probably consider them fairly popular. When the tour hit the UK this year, the venue sizes have reduced dramatically from that of last year, with one show on the tour leg decreasing from Manchester Apollo to Manchester Academy, and then degrading once more to Manchester Academy 2. Though, this doesn’t affect the quality of the bands on show for the paying fans.

LIVE: The Blackout @ The Irish Centre, Birmingham (03/10/2008)

Date: October 3rd, 2008
Venue: The Irish Centre, Birmingham
Support: The Medic Droid, We Are The Ocean, From First To Last
Website: www.theblackout.co.uk
MySpace: www.myspace.com/theblackout

Rating:

Sleep All Day, Party All Night is the name of the tour, commandeered and lead by Welsh post-hardcore upstarts The Blackout, and they’ve taken two American-based bands and a fellow UK act along for the ride with them. In the local pub-like appearance and layout of The Irish Centre in Birmingham, it seems like an odd looking place for a band set of this caliber to be playing in, but none the less they intend to party all night.

LIVE: Forever The Sickest Kids @ Club Academy, Manchester (19/09/2010)

Date: September 19th, 2008
Venue: Club Academy, Manchester
Support: All Forgotten, Kill The Arcade
Website: None available
MySpace: www.myspace.com/foreverthesickestkids

Rating:

After Cobra Starship were forced to pull out of their UK tour for September, main support act Forever The Sickest Kids decided amongst themselves that they’ll go ahead and do it without them anyway on their own tour, and from the turn out of the show almost selling out this was a wise move. Manchester Club Academy is almost packed-out with kids, with a fair few using the original Cobra Starship tickets for entry, and they’re all in for a good night.

Date: July 4th, 2008
Venue: Club Academy, Manchester
Support: Attack! Attack!, Tonight Is Goodbye
Website: None available
MySpace: www.myspace.com/youmeatsix

Rating:

Not many bands are at a stage where they can hold a headlining tour across the UK, sell most of the shows, and all without releasing a full-length album. You Me At Six however can pull such a feat, and have brought along the bands Attack! Attack! and Tonight Is Goodbye to share the experience.

Date: June 15th, 2008
Venue: Main Stage, Download Festival
Website: www.coheedandcambria.com
MySpace: www.myspace.com/coheedandcambria

Rating:

One of the more epic and atmospheric bands of the line-up today, Coheed & Cambria, may be slightly too technical and a band with songs you need to think about too much for the booze intoxicated crowd on the festival’s Sunday afternoon.

Date: June 14th, 2008
Venue: Main Stage, Download Festival

Rating:

All the way from Alaska, alternative metal heads 36 Crazyfists came along to Donington, and with it not being their first time they should surely know what this type of crowd wants and how they should give it to them. With a setlist containing newer material from their recently released album such as ‘We Gave It Hell’, and older material such as ‘At The End Of August’ and ‘Bloodwork’, the band pull-off each moment of their show with skill and grace, to the point where they almost of the crowd before them in the palm of their hands.

MySpace: www.myspace.com/adaytoremember

Rating:

It’s just coming up to the Download Festival weekend, and what better way to prepare than a tour featuring three bands on the festival line-up, appropriately called ‘The Road To Download’. With all three bands; Alesana, The Devil Wears Prada, and A Day To Remember being rather loud and not the kind of thing you’d hear on the radio, you can expect this night to be an explosive one.

Venue: Club Academy, Manchester

Rating:

Manchester Club Academy fills with what is a sold out show for Reuben‘s first headlining tour of 2008, to promote the ‘TwoByThree’ EP release, split with tonight’s two support acts. With a fanbase as dedicated as the one Reuben holds, you know that any show this band plays is going to be something special in one way or another.
