Joining onto 2010’s Never Say Die! tour as one of the artist with the longest career on the line-up, Californian metalcore act Bleeding Through have a respected history and back catalogue, and of course a pretty dedicated fanbase to boot. Originality is something pretty hard and rare to come by within any music scene today, but thankfully it does exist if you look in the right places. Devil Sold His Soul are one of the most innovative and creative underground metal bands in Britain today, and with their recent album ‘Blessed & Cursed’ they really raised the bar. DEAD PRESS! got a hold of drummer Lek Woods and vocalist Ed Gibbs to talk about the album, what their favourite type of shows to play are, and how they feel playing on the Architects UK tour.

Rising from small name boys to a big named British metalcore act with their 2009 album ‘Hollow Crown’, Brighton’s Architects are bombarding the UK on a tour where most of the dates have been sold out. Sold out shows make for a good show most of the time, especially when you’re the tour headliners. Due to their recent great success, we decided to catch up with guitarist Tom Searle to discuss the tour, news on their upcoming album ‘The Here And Now’, and what they have planned for what could be their biggest year yet – 2011!

Over a year on from their last album ‘Shallow Life’, one of Italy’s most successful metal bands Lacuna Coil are taking one last headline touring stint to promote the album before recording and releasing a follow-up record to it. During the UK leg of the European tour, the band made their first visit to Stoke-on-Trent to play a show, and as we were in the area we thought we’d catch up with the Italian gothic metallers. During this interview with vocalist Andrea Ferro and guitarist Cristiano Migliore, we discussed the summing up of the band’s career so far, progress on the forthcoming album, and how they compare UK shows with shows elsewhere in the world…

With record label shifts with their latest record ‘Phoenix’ and not long releasing it in the UK via LAB Records, New York’s Just Surrender went on a tour with Framing Hanley as their main support as they headlined a string of shows. Sadly the album leaked a few months before Just Surrender were able to release it officially, so we went and asked them how they felt about finding out about the leak, their whole stance and opinion on illegal downloading and file sharing today, and why they decided to go about writing a darker album than they usually tend to…

With their debut album ‘Collusion’ being released in just over a week’s time, DEAD PRESS! decided we should catch up with Nottingham death metal force Martyr Defiled on their UK September tour with Postmortem Promises at their Stoke date. After returning from a small food and beer run from the local Tesco store and searching about for a suitable place to conduct the interview, we finally settled on using the band’s tour van. Vocalist Matthew Jones, guitarist Lee Cook, bassist Joe Blackburn and later Alex Micklewright all shared with us their thoughts on the new album, the story behind its title, why they love playing Ghostfest and what they hope to do next year…

After only forming as soon as 2009, Hertfordshire’s Heights have quickly received a lot of attention and praise in the hardcore and alternative scene in recent months. With their debut EP ‘The Land, The Ocean, The Distance’ being shoved up on their site for free download and still shifting strong downloads since it’s release in September 2009, they’re debut album due for early 2011 will surely see the band make or break it. Despite being around for almost a decade now, Scottish alternative rock 3-piece Sucioperro still haven’t been give that break of a chance to receive the attention they rightfully deserve. But, with a third album soon on its way that could all soon change, bringing them out of small underground clubs and pubs, and instead playing at academy sized venues. We thought we’d get a hold of the band at one of their dates on their September 2010 tour and talk about the new album, what songs they prefer to play live, and what they have planned for the future – all whilst eating some sausage casserole, which they kindly offered to us…
