Release Date: September 16th 2016
Label: Stay Sick Recordings

Twitter: www.twitter.com/carcercity

Rating:

Liverpool metalcore outfit Carcer City are a special band. Genetics play a fundamental part in evolution, with DNA being the main constituent of uniqueness. Within certain people’s DNA, genetic markers allow them to see things in different ways with one such marker causing a condition known as synaesthesia. Perhaps the most well-known form of this condition is grapheme-colour synaesthesia, resulting in the person perceiving letters or numbers as colours. This can alter association to people’s crafts, allowing them to create something special, and, through vocalist Patrick Pinion (who suffers with this condition), that’s exactly what Carcer City have achieved with their third studio record, ‘Infinite // Unknown’.

ALBUM: King 810 – La Petite Mort Or A Conversation With God

Release Date: September 16th 2016
Label: Roadrunner Records
Website: www.king810.com
Facebook: www.facebook.com/king810flint
Twitter: www.twitter.com/king810flint

Rating:

Hailing from what is commonly known as the “murder capital of the United States” Flint, Michigan, King 810 made their mark on the metal scene with the release of their debut record ‘Memoirs Of A Murderer’ back in 2014. Dramatising violence and the use of weapons from personal experiences, and taking some of these props into the live arena, the hype train surrounding the band at the time was immense.

Release Date: September 16th 2016
Label: Unsigned
Website: www.bravevultures.com
Facebook: www.facebook.com/bravevultures
Twitter: www.twitter.com/bravevultures

Rating:

When you’re creating your debut EP, you want the first track to catch everyone’s interest from the get go. How do you do that exactly? Well, you could always follow in Brave Vultures‘ footsteps and use a quote from Family Guy. The first thing that you hear when listening to ‘I’m Not Coming Back If You’re Not Here’ is “Turn it on and rip the knob off”, which is a sure-fire way to capture peoples’ attention.

ALBUM: Touché Amoré – Stage Four

Release Date: September 16th 2016
Label: Epitaph Records
Website: www.toucheamore.com
Facebook: www.facebook.com/toucheamore
Twitter: www.twitter.com/toucheamore

Rating:

Touché Amoré are, and probably always will be, a band that polarises people. From their sparse and dreamy approach to post-hardcore songwriting to Jeremy Bolm‘s atonal rasp, it’s safe to say that they’re somewhat of an acquired taste. Those with the taste, however, hang on every word this band puts out, and that is unlikely to change with the release of ‘Stage Four’; their most ambitious, experimental, and downright personal record to date.

Label: Pure Noise Records
Website: None available
Facebook: www.facebook.com/knockedloose
Twitter: www.twitter.com/knockedloose

Rating:

Kentucky hardcore upstarts Knocked Loose have been riding a fairly substantial wave since their inception in 2013. Their debut EP ‘Pop Culture’ got peoples’ attention straight away, and landed them support slots with high profile acts such as Expire and The Acacia Strain. With debut full-length ‘Laugh Tracks’ they’re ready to prove that they’re not chicken (sorry!) about making the next leap forward.

ALBUM: This Wild Life – Low Tides

Release Date: September 9th 2016
Label: Epitaph Records
Website: www.thiswildlifeband.com
Facebook: www.facebook.com/thiswildlife
Twitter: www.twitter.com/thiswildlife

Rating:

California’s This Wild Life caused quite a stir when they returned to the music scene in 2014, completely changing the band’s signature pop-punk sound, and instead opting for a much more low-key affair with acoustic-led full-length record, ‘Clouded’. It was a well received change of pace that earned the band a lot of credit, and led to the creation of their new album, ‘Low Tides’. This record develops their softer, subdued sound further, and gives a clearer view of the band’s direction form here on out.

ALBUM: Norma Jean – Polar Similar

Release Date: September 9th 2016
Label: Solid State Records
Website: www.normajeannoise.com
Facebook: www.facebook.com/normajean
Twitter: www.twitter.com/normajeanband

Rating:

Norma Jean first exploded on to the scene in 2002 with the seminal ‘Bless The Martyr, Kiss The Child’; an album which has gathered cult-classic status since its release and is held in high regard by hardcore and metalcore fans the world over. It’s one of those albums that people in their early thirties gush about when they talk about ‘the good old days’. However, original vocalist Josh Scogin left shortly after the release and over the years Norma Jean have had so many line-up changes that there are actually no original members left. Somehow, fourteen years later, ‘Polar Similar’ still manages to feel like a natural progression from their chaotic metalcore roots:

ALBUM: Death Spells – Nothing Above, Nothing Below

Release Date: July 29th 2016
Label: Vagrant Records
Website: www.deathspellsmusic.com
Facebook: www.facebook.com/deathspellsforever
Twitter: www.twitter.com/deathspells

Rating:

Death Spells are an ‘electro-noise’ outfit formed from the creative mind of My Chemical Romance rhythm guitarist Frank Iero. If you’re expecting to find arena-sized anthems full of saccharine choruses and melodic breaks then you may want to steer clear of debut record ‘Nothing Above, Nothing Below’. The band were due to release this body of work back in 2013 until other commitments interfered, but three years later they’re now ready to unleash the record onto the unassuming public.

ALBUM: The Kyle Gass Band – Thundering Herd

Release Date: September 2nd 2016
Label: Steamhammer
Website: www.thekylegassband.com
Facebook: www.facebook.com/kylegassband
Twitter: www.twitter.com/gassleak

Rating:

Kyle Gass is the significantly less famous half of comedic acoustic rock duo, Tenacious D. Harsh words? Perhaps. But, when you hear what he has to offer with his solo career, you’ll find that those words are rather too kind. You see, ‘Thundering Herd’, the second release from The Kyle Gass Band, is appalling and as an album it fails across the board.

Rating:

Welsh post-hardcore (or, Valleycore as they like to call themselves) outfit Breathe In The Silence have steadily been making a name for themselves across the scene in the past couple of years, and now they’ve hit us with a stormer of an EP, ‘Hold My Heart’.
