Extended to a full three-day weekend and being one of the only festivals to be hosted at a wild animal park, Hevy is most definitely a unique beast that’s growing from strength-to-strength year after year since its creation. Now onto the second day of the weekend, all four stages of the festival were open for business, and our ears were open to the huge array of bands.

With such great acts like Sonic Boom Six, Basement and Flood Of Red kicking off the festival weekend, it’s sure to follow in similar great fashion.

Gravesend is a place that’s not known to many, and to those to whom it is known to there will be none too kind a word to be said about. So, it is a mystery to myself and many others as to why apocalyptic post-hardcore crew Exit Ten have decided to travel to one of its shittiest corners as one of the final legs of their UK tour.

When you start off a band at a young age, it’s very unlikely that you’re going to break through into the big time, but that’s not to say it’s impossible either. Success can come to anyone who carries the talent, puts in the effort, and a lot of the time it helps to know the right people too. Regardless, Winsford can find all of their local talent at local music bar/pub/club (depending on what night you go there), Debees.

One of the few good things to come out of Milton Keynes, Capdown have reunited, and are celebrating their recent reunion with a UK tour, mainly in small intimate venues. Tonight, they are stirring things up in Moho (the venue with the fucking huge staircase in the middle of the room).

The third and final day of the Sonisphere weekend brings to the table another day filled with brilliant acts sprawling across a range of different genres. With what might be Slipknot‘s final UK performance together (at least with the current line-up), it’s an emotional and iconic day for all maggots in attendance.

Onto day number two of the 2011 Sonisphere festival and now all of the stages are in full operation. Taking the main stage headline spot after the legendary UK debut appearance of The Big 4 less than 24-hours before is Scottish trio Biffy Clyro. Along with a host of many other great bands across the festivals many stages, the excitement continues onwards.

There for the iTunes Festival spread across London, My Chemical Romance are slotted in at the Camden Roundhouse with support from Evaline. The Roundhouse is generally a fairly small sized venue for My Chemical Romance‘s modern status, having not long played at impressive sized arenas such as the O2 and Wembley in the recent years. Nevertheless, that doesn’t make it any less of an amazing performance on their behalf, providing a rare opportunity for fans to get that little bit closer to their idols.

Rating:

The Quarterhouse is a striking building, found in the heartland of Folkestones’ Creative Quarter. Nicknamed ‘the cheese grater’ because of its strange metal design, the venue houses a great bar and restaurant as well as a small theatre room for all kinds of shows. An unassuming place in a quiet part of town. Hardly a place you’d except to find Watford punks Gallows, who after the release of ‘Grey Britain’ in 2008 and a string of legendary shows on the festival circuit, have far outgrown the tiny confines of places like the Quarterhouse. Nevertheless, it’s a treat for fans to be able to get so up close and personal with the band as they return to the kinds of venues that they played at the start of their career.

There are few bands in the world who could fill a space the size of the Milton Keynes Bowl, let alone a rock band with something of a limited mainstream appeal. But, looking out at the scene as the Foo Fighters launch in to their massive 2-hour set, the strengths of this band and the dedication of their fans are clear to see.

Thrash metal titans Sepultura arrived at the modest Muni Arts Centre, which was chosen as the replacement venue for the now defunct, perhaps more fitting Millenium Music Hall in Cardiff. With them they bring along fellow noise makers Counterhold, The Exiled and Revoker, who have recently been signed by the infamous Roadrunner Records.
