California’s Suicide Silence have been going from strength to strength since the release of their debut ‘The Cleansing’ back in 2007. Four years later, and the band are on their second headline stint across Europe, playing at sold out venues day in and day out. Despite their forthcoming new record ‘The Black Crown’ leaking on the Internet a few days beforehand, the packed out Manchester venue shows that the dedication in their fans lies further than illegal album downloads.

Rating:

Gallows seem to permanently be on tour, having played in this venue not only 6 months ago. This is a good thing though, for they are known to put on one hell of a show. Playing in Moho Live, this venue seems tailored to exactly the atmosphere they want to create; a small, intimate and therefore chaotic crowd. Once walking into the venue, one noticable feature is the lack of any form of barrier. This could prove to be very interesting.

For those of you who are a little unaware of their background, The Blanks is a band from the hit medical sitcom Scrubs, where they were known as Ted‘s band. Did you know that Sam Lloyd (Ted) is the brother of Christopher Lloyd, aka Doc Emmett Brown from the classic film series Back To The Future? Small world, eh? Playing in the tiny intimate venue of Moho Live in Manchester, they say they have one hell of a show planned for us all.

Sheffield’s While She Sleeps are back in Glasgow to help celebrate the inauguration of Scotland’s newest independent record label, Thanks For Nothing Records. Having organised and sold out the gig in only a month along with signing their first band, the boys over at the label have set incredibly strong foundations to which they hope they can build upon.

3 Doors Down are back in town to promote the release of their latest record, ‘Time Of Your Life’. The Mississippi quintet has been together for nearly 15 years now, and have an impressive back catalogue of hits. Tonight, they’re playing the popular Academy venue in Manchester, a venue that is admittedly a little smaller than they are used to performing at in recent years.

The final day of the Download Festival sadly brings along with it the storms and a downpour of rain that lasted pretty much the entire day. This however didnt stop the thousands of festival attendees making the most of the last day of the festival weekend, catching an array of great acts both big and small before having to return back to their every day lives once more the following day:

Following onto the second day of the 2011 Download Festival, the weather is looking better and brighter and the main stage attraction of the first ever UK performance from System Of A Down since their return from their hiatus draws in what could well be the biggest crowd of the whole weekend. With a selection of other great acts across all four stages, Saturday could definitely be the best day of the whole weekend:

It goes without saying that Download Festival is easily one of the pinnacle and most respectable festivals for rock, metal and alternative music in the UK. With years and years of success and acts gracing its grounds, such as AC/DC, Guns N Roses and Slipknot to name just a few of the more famous ones, 2011 is set to keep the festival’s sterling reputation strong and high. On its Friday bill of acts, there’s a range of names both old and new across its four stages, including a return from The Darkness after their indefinite hiatus:

For the most part, one thing that has cropped every time that Hellogoodbye has been mentioned recently is; “Are they still together? I didn’t know they still did anything”. Well, judging by the packed out Water Rats venue, it is more than apparent that they are still together and still going strong.

Boasting their own hand symbol for their fans, guest appearances in their singles from pop starlets Ke$ha and Katy Perry and a recent headline slot at Slam Dunk Festival, electro-pop/rap duo 3OH!3 have managed to rake in a great deal of success in the few short years they’ve been together for. A headline tour across the UK before the release of their new record ‘Robot’ hopes to push the promotion of their current album ‘Streets Of Gold’ to the British fans one final time.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary with a huge bang, Slam Dunk Festival hosted some big and legendary names in the pop-punk/ska punk scene to their roster: Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger and Less Than Jake. Along with several other established aswell as up-and-coming acts spread across several stages, Slam Dunk has always been, and still remains to be, the best pop-punk event the UK has to offer. We joined in on the fun at the Leeds date of the festival weekend this year, and here’s what we thought of who we managed to catch across the day:

For the first time ever, progressive post-hardcore types Dance Gavin Dance are in the UK with their full original line-up, and also for the very first time ever, they are playing their famous ‘Downtown Battle Mountain’ debut album in its entirety. So, as you can imagine, the hype and anticipation surrounding the arrival of the band is extremely high.
