INTRODUCING: Greyhaven (US)

We’re putting the spotlight on the hottest and most exciting new bands around with our Introducing feature, ready to highlight the artists with the biggest potential to make an impact on their scene.

Next up we jump in to bed with Greyhaven who’ve been touring in the States with Norman Jean and have just released their carnage filled record ‘Empty Black’. The album delves into universal struggles like the cyclical nature of the opioid crisis or our dependency on oil and how the government acts upon them. Greyhaven are challenging and interesting and have plenty to say in their lyrically and musically heavy output. We caught up with bassist Johnny Muench to introduce us further.

WHAT THE BAND SAY:

DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard Greyhaven before?
Johnny: Just some good old rock n roll.

DP!: How did the band form?
Johnny: The band formed from the disbandment of an older project that our original line up was all in. We had new ideas and a different direction that we wanted to take and were looking for a fresh start.

DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
Johnny: We have tours in the works for the rest of the year, and plan to just stay on the road as much as possible while we continue to make more music.

DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
Johnny: System of a Down and The Dillinger Escape Plan, those two always pushed the limits of being yourself and creating something new and different. Speaking out about real issues when they can, and still having a blast along the way.

DP!: What’s the stand out moment in your career so far?
Johnny: This moment right now. Putting out an album through a label we’ve all loved, touring with bands we’ve looked up to, and having people enjoy what we do.
