EP: Lizzy Farrall – All I Said Was Never Heard
January 12th, 2018
Chester based singer/songwriter Lizzy Farrall announced her signing to Pure Noise Records back in April of last year, accompanied by the delicately beautiful single, ‘Broken Toy’; the first taste of her debut EP, ‘All I Said Was Never Heard’.
Backed by soaring instrumentals, Farrall‘s songwriting is showcased wonderfully across 5-track effort. Touching on the subjects of mental health, relationships, and family, the emotion is reflected crystal clearly in her vocal delivery. The vulnerability that seeps through in ‘Hollow Friends’ and ‘Better With’ is both haunting and cathartic. It’s clear that she’s completely in her element.
The distortion filled ‘Better Off’ stands out with a pop-rock sensibility, a driving bass line, and lively lead guitar melody. It bares a slight resemblance to early Tonight Alive material, and acts as an exciting change of pace in comparison to the rest of the stripped back songs.
‘All I Said Was Never Heard’ is a very rewarding listen that’s sure to be enjoyed by a variety of music fans. If this much honesty and raw emotion can be conveyed in only five songs, when Farrall eventually offers up a full-length for us all, it’s certainly going to be something really special.
