Law enforcement sources and the LA County Coroner have said that singer hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles, California, and that his body was discovered today (July 20th 2017) at approximately 9:00AM local time.
Bennington‘s bandmate and other co-vocalist, Mike Shinoda, has taken to Twitter to confirm that the tragic news is sadly true, and that he is both “shocked and heartbroken”.
Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.

The singer confessed in several interviews throughout his career that he struggled with drugs and alcohol for years. He has also said in the past he had considered committing suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male.
Chester married Talinda Bentley back in 2006, and is survived by six children, three of which he shares with Talinda.
He joined Linkin Park as a co-vocalist back in 1999, and with them released seven full-length studio albums, their latest ‘One More Light’ being released in June of this year. Their debut album, ‘Hybrid Theory’, is the best selling debut album of the 21st century. The band helped to pioneer and lead the nu-metal boom of the early to mid 00s.
He was also a part of Dead By Sunrise and briefly fronted hard rock outfit Stone Temple Pilots before leaving them in 2015.
More details surrounding this news will be confirmed as and when it develops.
We here at DEAD PRESS! offer our deepest condolences to Chester Bennington‘s family, friends, bandmates, and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
